I can’t believe it’s almost end of August already – and the longer I work from home the days just seem to fly by faster. Even though the lock down restrictions have been eased up here in Metro Manila, going out is still risky because the number of positive cases has not yet gone down. That means it’s work from home for me and D through the end of the year. It’s also quite a hassle going out really – we have to wear face masks AND face shields; and at the entrance of every building or restaurants we go to our body temperature is taken, our hands sprayed with isopropyl alcohol, and we have to sign or type on our mobile phones our personal details for contact tracing purposes. The most inconvenient part is the face shield really – I have to stop to catch my breath after walking a few minutes in this heat and humidity. But this is our new normal here in the Philippines and we’re all in it together, so this will be the last of my rant, I promise.
I just recently recovered from a bad case of acid reflux and migraine, coupled with anxiety. I realized I’ve been so focused on work that I am forgetting to eat on time, stop to do my stretches, and just resist the temptation of being seated in front of my laptop the whole day. It was a wakeup call for me, and I am grateful for that painful reminder.
While I was recovering, I found some new sites on YouTube to help me do a bit of self love. I wanted to share these with you because doing them lifted my spirits and helped make me feel much better.
For my usual light cardio, I have began scheduling 30 minute breaks in my calendar so I can do these thousand step mini-workouts. I am quite enjoying the Joanna Soh Official’s 10,000 Indoor Step Challenge; and if I feel like dancing, I would tune in on Reps to the Rhythm’s 3000 Steps Home Workout.
I’ve been doing these for 1 week now, and as they say, it takes 21 days to create a habit. This is a new habit my body needs – and I’m all for it.
