I didn’t realize I haven’t posted about our unique fish dish experience on our last night in Hanoi. This is one of the local dishes that I’m a fan of (I know, there’s too much food in Vietnam that I’m a fan of – this, coming from someone who’s very picky on food).
When we checked in our lovely little AirBnB in Hanoi’s Old Quarter, our host left a list of must-check-out places. The Cha Ca Thang Long is a popular restaurant which luckily was a few blocks away. Their specialty is called cha ca which is a yummy mix of fried fish with turmeric and dill. I didn’t need any convincing and I rushed D to come along.
The restaurant was still busy even though we came for a late lunch. We were served peanuts, green sides, as a small wok and a pan was placed on our table. The waitstaff then put in the chunks of boneless fish to fry, topped with greens. D caught me with a hungry (impatient) look as I watched the food cooked in front of us.
It was so delicious! What a way to cap off our Hanoi trip! It will always be a memorable trip for me as it’s a city rich with culture, and a foodie’s paradise.
