Simple Joys

Another week has passed, and I’d say the best day in the week was yesterday – I was on leave! Well, I didn’t do anything special, but I was able to do some of the things I have not been able to do for a long time (and when I say long, it’s the same length of time we’ve been stuck at home due to enhanced community quarantine).

Started the day with a light breakfast – pan de sal with butter and a cup of coffee. The coffee tasted meh so imagine my glee when I saw Tim Horton’s was open for Grab Food delivery. I haven’t had a proper cup of coffee for weeks so that was quite a reward.

For most of the day, I was reading Liane Moriarty’s Nine Perfect Strangers – a gift sent by my sister all the way from Australia. I like reading in our brightly lit living room with Pedro the bulldog snoring soundly next to me. Here’s a view of the cloudless blue sky.

In the afternoon, D and I went to our backyard to try flying a kite. I was inspired as I see a couple of kites flying a few hours before sunset this week. I had some toilet cover paper sent over by my sister so I could recycle – and what better way to make use of it than to create a kite. We weren’t able to fly it as we needed more space. Made a mental note to try flying it again this weekend. (Update: Saturday night was windy so D climbed up the roof and flew the kite – it was a success!).

Kite made from recycled paper, and sticks from our ‘walis tingting’

Lastly, this beautiful shot taken by D as he climbed up the water tank. This is my neighborhood skyline – and the splash of colors of the sky af twilight always astounds me.

Twilight – my favorite part of the day when I’m relaxing outdoors: be it the beach, city parks, or my backyard.
