Summer Rose

Earlier in the day I complained to D that I wouldn’t sit in the living room sofa anymore as I had a lower back ache after sitting there for a few hours. Now that Monday’s work is almost done, we’re out at the garden stretching our legs and admiring the last few minutes of the clear blue sky before the sun sets.

And lo and behold I see this lovely little rose, by its lonesome hidden ay the corner of our garden, mostly under the shadows of the taller plants next to it. Its siblings are in the rosebed, which my aunt has been carefully tending to. So this little one was quite a wonder having grown away from the rest of the roses, and is truly the only speck of red among the greens.

Life persists.
